John Pipe International clients benefit from the
wealth of experience gained in defence packing for the MoD over many years. The
packing of military spares and equipment was started during the 1970s and has subsequently progressed through the
necessary quality approval levels from 0521 through to the latest ISO9001.
The Company has
DR14 design capability approval and regularly handles a variety of packing needs from small polybag packing through to cartons, special to contents containers, and static sensitive types.

Military containers are designed for specific requirements to suit the demands of the contract. The design is called a
Services Packaging Instruction Sheet (SPIS). A typical SPIS produced in house is shown.

Often the
SPIS will dictate the use of a single wall, solid fibreboard, carton traditionally used for small items that are usually sealed in a polythene envelope within the carton.
Military contractors are afforded a ‘same day service’ with cartons made in-house.
All military stores have to be labelled. Illustrated is a
special barcode 39 label produced in-house.
Details and advice are readily available by telephone.
